Fire has razed some parts of Toi Market and traders are currently counting losses. The fire is reported to have started at around 3am and teams from the Kenya Red Cross, Fire Brigade and G S U among other were yet to arrive on ground as at 6 am to put out the fire reducing into ashes property worth millions of shillings.
No casualty was reported but property and crucial documents had been burnt down in the fire incident at the ministry headquarters Transcom House. The police are currently investigating the cause of a fire incident and they are suspecting arson as the cause of the fire.
According to Business Daily, Ms Bernice Wasike, a trader at the market provided that the fire started in one of the stalls before spreading fast to others.
“We did not salvage anything. Our goods were burned. Personally, I have lost Sh200,000 worth of stock in shoes and other wares I was planning to sell this morning,” she said.
