Searching for reliable, genuine and best modelling agencies in Kenya is a hard nut. The country has many agencies but a few offer actual modelling services and platform for upcoming models. Majority of them concentrate on low level ushering services and product activation. Some of them just steal money from upcoming models in the name of registration money or photo-shoot charges.

And some models in the specific agencies take more than seven years just get recognized by an agency’s management let alone given a chance to participate in a commercial shoot (story for another day).

Here is a list for the best modelling agencies in Kenya:

City Models Africa

I love this agency because of their communication and the will to create a big modelling family in Africa. The agency was launched in 2013 by Kenya’s supermodel Ajuma Nasenyana who has so far inspired many models in the country – mostly in marginalized areas. The agency does not just support models, it has extended its arm to offer talent management programs and opportunities for artists in the country. Most of their models feature in TV commercials and short social platform infomercials. The founder; Ajuma has also taken a keen interest in training models who wish to become high fashion faces.

Versatile Model and Talent Kenya

Every successful model in the country has a file with these guys. Versatile is an oldy in the region and it has worked with some of the major brands in East Africa like Dettol, JIK and government institutions like Kenya Power and Lighting Co. Just like CMA, Versatile deals with models, actors and photographers who have an eye for art. Although, this agency is kind of overcrowded. One has to be perfect in order to be selected for a gig. To add on that, if you are a lover of runway modelling and everything fashion – don’t sign up with Versatile, but if you want to appear on TV or on a magazine, then Versatile Model and Talent agency is the place for you.

Surazuri models

Apparently, this is one of the oldest modelling agency in the country. According to the company’s website, Surazuri was founded in 1987 by Kenyan model, Lyndsey McIntyre, following her involvement in placing Khadija Adam into the Miss Kenya pageant, which led to Khadija’s international discovery. This agency is like a PR firm – it handles everything from event organizing to model management. If you wish to join this agency, apply here.

African Hut Models

This agency is like a community, a school and a youth kind of empowerment program. They have the qualities of an international fashion house because they treat one another as equals and carryout continuous training for the models. They have an interest in uplifting African culture through their runway events dubbed African Hut Fashion and Cultural Events.
