Everybody owns a pair of jeans whether its a shirt, a skirt or a dress. Then, there’s the option of looking like everyone else, combining the denim however everybody else is doing it. Then there is the option of looking different. Today we look at ways to combine your denim to achieve a boy meets girl kind of look.
Outdoor Street Style
In the case of a denim dress, put on a sweater that is just about the same length as the dress. This brings out the layering effect that makes it look more of a shirt dress than a girly dress.
The straight dress could use the guy effect by adding the boyfriend jacket to your ensemble. The boy friend jacket is usually bigger than you, fold the hands to give it a better fit. Let it hang like the dress. Other pieces of clothing can include a shirt, a jacket, a kimono would also be ideal.
The use of accessories is not limited here but keep in mind the end outcome should be boyish rather than girlie. You can experiment with different belts to give your body structure if the dress is loosely fitted. Other accessories include using scarfs, these, folded the right way can tonne down the ability of a dress to look feminine and give it a masculine feel.
Incorporate your sneakers with your dresses for the ultimate result. Make sure whichever shoes you wear goes with the dress. For a dress that has the bell structure if its length is above the knee you can wear sneaker boots with. This could be very tricky to pull so make sure the length of the dress and the shoes flatter your legs. The safest option would be flat sneakers, below the ankle length.
Outdoor Street Style
Keep your hair and make up girlie. You are a girl after all and just because you can dress like a dude doesn’t mean you have to completely look like one. Make your hair deliberate and bold.
The denim look is mostly in blue so its easy to pair with any other color. Key notes: make sure whatever choice you land on the colors are not completely off. Keep your look as simple as possible. This can be achieved by using hues like black and grey, for the pattern use checked or the leopard print
